By Ms. Fides Abad and Mr. Jing Bautista, XS Archives — As lively chatter synced with the background music of an AVP showing images of Xavier’s past, sparks of laughter and excited remarks rose through the din as people recounted life in Xavier and reminisced about colleagues who have passed on. Former faculty and staff were warmly welcomed and gifted with an XS55 souvenir shirt and personalized button pin as they registered in the early evening hours of December 16 at the Fr. Cortina, S.J. Sports Center.
by Dieter Dy, G7B — During the Third Quarter, part of our requirements for Chinese in the Flexi Curriculum included Chinese painting. Our teacher, Mrs. Rosel Valenzuela, taught us how to paint various subjects, using black Chinese ink. Using our brushes, we painted our own different interpretations of various plants, animals and landscapes. The main focus of our Chinese painting class was the four noble plants, namely the bamboo, the plum blossom, the orchid and the lotus. Furthermore, we were taught about the symbolisms of each of the plants. We were also taught the fundamentals of Chinese painting, such as the proper brushstrokes, color mixture, and composition.
